Harmony Tip: Rejuvenate

Tuesdays are now dedicated to tips all about creating harmony and organization in your home :)

Harmony Tip #1:  No matter how many minutes a day you have all to yourself, find or create a special place in your home that is all yours to relax and rejuvenate. Grab the magazines that just arrived in the mail or your latest book selection and retreat to your serene spot. Make sure you have some of your favorite things nearby like a favorite scented candle, something to play some relaxing music or a small vase for your favorite seasonal flower . This is your time all to yourself so make it personal. Be sure to remove any reminders of stress like to do lists, bills or stacks of papers. Leaving the cell phone behind for a few minutes won't kill you. Take the time to pamper yourself..... you deserve it!

True Blue

Fall usually brings with it darker clothes and depending on where you live, gloomier days which is why we all need a little jolt of electric blue. Check out the fall 2010 fashion trend applied to the interiors in the 2010 Kips Bay Decorator Show House in NYC. Habitually Chic did an awesome job covering the energizing room by Sherrill Canet.  Wish I was there to see it with my own eyes!  If you want to try out this bold color, check out some inspirations below.

Fashion Fridays: Florentine fashion

Last night I hosted a combo birthday celebration for two close friends/send off party. Our friend Lisa is leaving us for two months to the magical country of Italy and we toasted her buon viaggio in style.  I visited her back in July when she was there working and am yearning to get back again in November to see her (free place to stay!). With Italy on my mind today, I couldn't resist sharing some fashionable finds by Florentine designer Emilio Pucci.  The Pucci dress I own is SO comfortable ( see below).  Ciao bella!

I am a collector of color coffee table books and LOVE this one by Pucci. Taschen provides it in limited edition of 10,000 copies. Each unique copy is bound with one of a selection of recent print fabrics from the Pucci collection.

Weekend Project: Pumpkin Crafts

Since this weekend was cold and wet in LA it was a perfect time to get started on some autumn crafts that I have been dying to try out. I am obsessed with Martha Stewart's glitter collection at Michaels so I went glitter crazy this weekend on a bunch of small pumpkins which will become a part of a bigger table display. Another quick craft was making a monogrammed pumpkin for my friend Lisa's front door. Some glue and glitter was all I needed. I added all the other gourds, pumpkins and mums to finish off the look. Both of these were easy pumpkin decorations that didn't require any messy carving.

Fashion Fridays: Leather

My week started off with jury duty so I am SO happy to be ending it blogging about Fashion Fridays! For the past few months I have been dreaming about this Rick Owens leather jacket and was reminded how badly I wanted it when I found a chic leather tray for a client this week. Using leather in interiors can be pricey for large pieces of furniture but check out these leather tray options to add some texture and sophistication to any console, coffee table or vanity. The colorful ones are a great way to try out a new pop of color for a room.

I would LOVE to pair this Rick Owens jacket with the Preen print jersey dress available at Arcade Boutique. A girl can dream :).  Check out Plantation Design for more chic leather tray options.

Weekend Project: Casual Den Update

I just had to share some pictures that I took on my iphone of a den project that is halfway complete for my friend & client Amanda. The room has already transformed with everything we have added to her existing white sofas.  Now on to the accessorizing before the photo shoot next week!   I am so excited that a $15/yd ikat fabric that I found back east while visiting family looks so good in Amanda's den. I love a deal and so glad I bought it!  I will be sure to share the final look next week :).

Ravishing & Affordable Rugs

These colorful area rugs are heavenly. We snatched up one for my friend Lisa's apartment re-deco project. The purple tile print instantly gave her bedroom an refreshing update.  Even Minnie her cat loves it!!! You can even layer one on top of a wall to wall carpet. Check them out at Calypso Home. The colors look way brighter in person. I am obsessed with the navy chevron one :)
