In 2011 I Will...

What will you accomplish in 2011? Hope you have time today to reflect on what you will achieve in the coming year. Write them down and say them out loud. ( I recently read it helps to write them as adjectives and not verbs/nouns.) Try it out, it can't hurt :). Happy New Year!!!

In 2011 I will be:
HEALTHY
PROSPEROUS
AND

HARMONIOUS

Perfect puddle protection

This holiday week has taken me from an East Coast blizzard to West Coast rain. I thought I lived in LA and not Seattle?!!  Arm yourself with rainy day essentials and protect yourself from all those puddles with the proper gear. Hope you are staying warm in front of a calming cozy fire like the one below.

I am in need of a pair of wellies for all of this rain! Loving the colorful options below.

Holiday: Sparkly Stocking

Discovering my stocking stuffers is one of my fav things Christmas morning. Below is my own sparkly stocking that I SO treasure. My great Aunt (who is now 104!) crafted each of my family members a handmade sparkling stocking when each of us were born. The attention to detail is amazing and such a wonderful keepsake. Start your own family tradition and craft up a personalized stocking for your family using an unused scarf or favorite fabric and ribbon... the possibilities are endless!

I'm dreaming of a White Christmas....

Hope all your Christmas wishes came true. Mine did :). Love the quiet and calm feeling of snow fall. Hope you all are safe and warm.

Wildlife Christmas

After roasting pumpkins for my fav pumpkin soup on Christmas Eve, the unused seeds and pumpkin went to the deer and squirrels in the woods behind my parents house. By the looks of this photo, this squirrel is very grateful for the Christmas gifts :).

Wishing you a Joyful & Merry Christmas

May your Christmas holiday be filled with joy and laughter. I hope Santa was good to you all :). Merry Christmas!!

Holiday: Vintage Christmas ornaments

It is no surprise that I love all things glittery & sparkly for Christmas decorations. While home for the holidays, my Mother is proudly displaying an ornament I made for her as a child. My love of glitter was evident even at a young age :).  Some things you are just born with!  Check out the Christmas craft I made as a tot. Proudly display your vintage Christmas ornaments.

NYC on my mind

After years of visiting NYC for the Christmas holiday season prior to moving to LA, I was delighted to finally get back there last Friday for a girls day trip while home for the holidays.  So many things to see in such a short period of time! My favorite department store windows definitely were Bergdorf Goodman.

If you can't get yourself to NYC this holiday season, live vicariously through Kevin Sharkey's Home Design blog. He has captured many of the 2010 windows across across NYC. Or visit You Tube for fantastic videos of the Bergdorf Goodman windows and the Saks 3D projection. Super cool. Merry Christmas!!!

Wintery White Wonderland

Wintery white is popping up all over the red carpet and in home stores this holiday season.  One of my favorite shops in LA, Calypso Home, has decorated the front of the store with wintery white, ivory and natural decor that will make you want to curl up on their cozy display beds covered in white furry and cable knit throws.  If you want more winter wonderland decor ideas, check out HGTV Celebrity Holiday Homes 2010 with designer Sandra Espinet. Hope everyone is staying warm and dry!!

Add crystal candlesticks with white candles, a crisp white tablecloth, white flowers along with white plates and silver charges for a wintery white tablescape. The chandeliers create a dramatic dreamy look.
